Tired of your normal, average Psionic “techniques?” Bored of simply moving Psi about at a whim? Perhaps it’s time to turn off your techs, and turn on your brain! That’s what we’ve convened to discuss. It is a fallacy amongst the psionic community to be restricted to that portrayed on animated series. Students of the psychical arts tend to think that the Holy Grail of Psi manipulation is the “blast.” That’s unfortunate that humanity has lost its creativity…
…but before this becomes a rant, have hope! Psionics is a much more interesting field than the initial beliefs. “What? Blasts are the best!” you say, but you are ruefully wrong. There are those out there who know there is more.. I am one such, a practitioner of the art of Psionic Programming. What is psionic programming, you ask? That’s what we’re here to discuss.
Psionic practice is limited no more. General psionic practices involves moving things wantonly about… psionic programming is creating psi constructs to perform specific purposes. It is very much similar to a shield in this way.. In fact, shields are truly rudimentary psionic constructs.
Psi constructs can be programmed to perform any number of tasks, and what are mentioned below are simply ideas, it is much encouraged that you think on your own, and after learning the art, begin creating your own programs etc.
One example of a simply programmed psionic construct is the warning device. Very simple in nature, it can be comprised of a primitive construct, such as a psi-ball, and placed just about anywhere. The construct can be maintained on it’s own power, and if programmed properly, it will alert the creator of impact.
Another simple device, more applicable in combat situations, or just to piss people off, is a land mine. Another impact-triggered device, this one is heavily compacted with a disrupting field. When hit, it releases a random wave of energy, disrupting the target. These too can be set about the area, or perhaps even coupled with the warning device. Any range of explosive or destructive things can be employed, I enjoy small explosives et al, and build many different things…pongee sticks, land mines, rocketry, etc.
On a different note is the aspect of constructs in maintaining shields. Instead of programming mass quantities of information into a shield, it is more practical to create the shield, and then tell it what to do. Simple constructs, addendum’s, etc. can be applied willy nilly about the shield interface. Terminals can be set up to allow the shield to react to different mental states, or other stimuli.
Far more practical, first person combat applications, one could consider Psionic poisons, or other weaponry. Far more useful than the blast is a dart, easily piercing shields like a knife through Kevlar, and dealing more finite damage to nerve structures than any area blast could. Or one could consider aforementioned poisons, nasty psionic particles that hide themselves as normal ones, and slowly cause stagnation.
Finally, and possibly most interesting, are the potentials for minions. If you’ve every played with Legos, or another form of creation device, you’re probably interested in computers, robots, programming, etc. Psionic devices are extremely easy to program, as they need no true language, and they can perform any number of tasks. Simply create your minion, give him a purpose (or more preposterously, an artificial mind) and unleash him on the world. These can be employed for normal day to day tasks, gaining recon, or more evilly, combat applications.
Hopefully, this article has brought about a new interest in the field, and will stir up some controversy amongst the radical Ki folks to think outside the little DBZ box they’ve created, with their blasts et al.
