As you’ve seen, the United States has not been psionically unaware, and has used psionics operationally. From Remote Viewing to Psi Energy Manipulation to Telepathy, the United States’ Armed Forces has run many tests and operations involving Psi phenomena, and will likely continue to do so for a long time. However, the US Government is not the only world power to have an interest in the uses of parapsychological phenomena. Enter the USSR.
The Russian people have always been involved in mysticism and psi-related phenomena. From the pre-Bolshevik reign of astrology and psychic healing (such as Rasputin) to the Czechoslovakian use of Psi in the First and Second World War, Psi has filled many areas of Russian culture. During the Soviet Era, however, Psi phenomena were extensively investigated..
The Soviet Union was well ahead of us from the beginning. In 1966 a man by the name of Karl Nikolaiev came forward as a volunteer for parapsychological research. Karl was a receiving telepath of skilled nature, and is one of the proving points that Psi Phenomena do in fact exist. The Soviet’s wired Karl up to bio-stat registering equipment, including an EEG machine, in Novosibirsk. In Moscow, Yuri Kamensky, a natural telepath, prepared to Send objects over telepathic frequencies to be recorded by Nikolaiev. Karl was not told when the telepathy would begin.
At 2000 Moscow time (Nearly Midnight in Siberia) Kamensky was handed the first package, containing one of the 6 objects he would send, having 10 minutes per Sending. As he began, Nikolaiev noted that the sending had begun (evidence in and of itself.) The object, a metal spring with seven tight coils, was correctly identified by Karl as “round, metallic, gleaming, indented…looks like a coil.”
Says Kamensky “it seems to me every person has this ability to send and receive telepathy. But like any ability, it’s necessary to train and develop it. Some people, of course, are more talented at it than others.” Nikolaiev was not a born telepath. He trained his ability. “I started out the only way I knew – by trying. I had friends think orders to me. They’d think ‘light a cigarette, change your mind and crush it out.’ Or ‘March forward, turn left. Like any good recruit, I’d turn right. It amused everyone but me.” He says. “One day, and acquaintance, Galya, I’ll never forget her-thought ‘go pick up the pitcher.’ And I did.” That was Karl, finally using the ability he had trained for.
Nikolaiev demonstrated his ability before even the worst of skeptics, challenging them to test him in popular magazine…and of course, successfully changing their minds.
After this, the Soviet Union focused their research on the how and why of telepathy, seeing as the “does it exist” question had already been answered replicably. Since then, the Soviets have theorized many uses of it. They’ve trained telepaths to communicate long distances, in the case of inability to function otherwise. In fact, during the Soviet space program, Cosmonauts were trained to use telepathy to communicate, in case space technology was to malfunction.
Another Soviet interest was in telepathic Sending. The Russians believed that Sending was as important as Receiving. A large amount of their research was focused on the use of Telepathy to manipulate others, or to more efficiently communicate with Receivers. These tests led them to learning how telepathy can be used to knock a person unconscious. The subject could be doing anything, from dancing in a disco to guarding a secure installation, but when the telepathic suggestion is sent, they will fall sound asleep.
Senders in Russia are trained a specific way. The first step, of course, is to relax. Think of the object or action you want to Send. The most important part of this is visualization. Visualizing is key. Visualize vividly what you want to Send, while picturing the person you want to Send to. The more vivid the mental picture the more effective and clear the Sending.
